Tattoo Aftercare.
Taking care of your new tattoo is essential to ensure it heals beautifully. Follow these steps to give your tattoo the best chance to heal properly:
Immediate Aftercare
At the end of your session, I will apply a second skin film over your tattoo. Leave it on for 24-48 hours. If it becomes uncomfortable at any point, you can remove it earlier.
When removing the film, first wash your hands. Peel it off slowly, like you would a plaster. I recommend doing this under warm water, preferably in the shower, to make removal easier.
Once the film is off, gently wash the area with unscented antibacterial soap or lukewarm water. Pat it dry with a clean paper towel—do not rub. Let the area breathe.
If You Remove the Second Skin Before 48 Hours:
Wash the tattoo with some unscented anti bacterial soap and pat it dry with some kitchen roll.
Let the tattoo get some air. If it begins to feel dry between add a thin layer of after care cream of your choice.
When washing, avoid shower gels, scented soaps, or any harsh products as these can irritate the tattooed skin. Stick to unscented antibacterial soap or just water.
Ongoing Care
Apply a thin layer of your preferred tattoo aftercare cream a couple of times a day. Do not over apply. Your skin should feel moisturised, not smothered.
Keep your tattoo clean at all times.
Let your tattoo breathe—avoid tight-fitting clothing over the area for at least three weeks.
Avoid soaking your tattoo—no swimming, saunas, or baths for three weeks.
Avoid direct sunlight while healing. Once healed, protect your tattoo with SPF.
Avoid intense physical activity (e.g., gym workouts) as excessive movement and sweating can affect healing.
Prevent friction—try not to let your tattoo rub against clothing.
Keep your tattoo moisturised throughout the day.
Be mindful of your tattoo, avoid bumping or knocking it.
Do NOT scratch or pick at your tattoo - this can remove ink and leave blank spots.
